Offense Shows Signs of Life

There is no doubt that the Reds’ offense has been struggling. They showed some signs of life last night by collecting 11 hits.

Five of those hits were for extra bases. Laynce Nix, Ramon Hernandez and Chris Dickerson each had a double. Ryan Hanigan had a triple. Brandon Phillips hit his eleventh home run of the season in the sixth inning to give Cincinnati the lead.

Bronson Arroyo improved to 8-5 with the victory, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing just two runs on two hits. Arthur Rhodes and David Weathers held the White Sox scoreless until the ninth when Francisco Cordero came on to record his 17th save of the season.

Tonight is the Civil Rights Game at Great American Ball Park. It will be Clayton Richard (2-1, 3.76) against Johnny Cueto (6-4, 2.17).
